Aeon Terms of Use
Acceptance and scope

These Terms govern access to and use of Aeon, Sercle’s browser-based interactive globe and historical exploration product. By accessing or using Aeon, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Aeon.

Current product boundary

The current public version provides an interactive three-dimensional globe, timeline and layer exploration, historical and scientific information displays, browser-local preferences, and locally implemented workspace and feature interfaces.

It does not provide production user accounts, authentication, paid subscriptions, purchases, paid features, or production cloud project synchronization. Panels and model labels referring to identity, profiles, collaboration, marketplaces, cloud services, analytics, deployment, or synchronization may represent local, demonstrative, or future-facing structures rather than active external services. You should not rely on those labels as promises that hosted services are available.

Permitted use

You may use Aeon for lawful personal, educational, research, evaluation, and other permitted purposes. You must not misuse Aeon, interfere with its operation or security, attempt unauthorized access, use automated activity that unreasonably burdens the service, introduce malicious code, or use Aeon in violation of applicable law or the rights of others.

Historical and scientific information

Aeon presents historical, geographic, scientific, and interpretive material for exploration and informational purposes. Sources may be incomplete, disputed, simplified, approximate, or revised as knowledge changes.

Aeon is not professional legal, medical, financial, safety, navigation, or other regulated advice. You remain responsible for evaluating information and consulting qualified sources before making decisions requiring professional or authoritative guidance.

Local state and persistence

Aeon stores preferences and feature state in browser local storage. Local state may be lost if you clear browser data, change devices or browsers, use private-browsing features, or if software or browser behavior changes. Sercle does not guarantee preservation, recovery, synchronization, backup, or portability of local state.

Third-party imagery, data, and services

Aeon uses Cesium software and first attempts to obtain external world imagery through Cesium. The external imagery service or an imagery provider selected through it may be unavailable, interrupted, changed, rate-limited, or governed by separate provider terms. When external imagery is unavailable, Aeon may use bundled NaturalEarthII imagery from Aeon’s own origin.

Aeon may also display or reference information, software, imagery, maps, datasets, links, or other material supplied by third parties. Third-party material remains subject to applicable licenses, attribution requirements, provider terms, and rights. Sercle does not control or guarantee the continued availability, completeness, accuracy, or performance of third-party services or material.

Availability and changes

Aeon is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Sercle may maintain, modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue features or access.

Sercle does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, uninterrupted external data or imagery service, any service level, or that every feature label represents a production service.

Intellectual property

Aeon, Sercle names and branding, original interfaces, text, designs, software, and other Sercle-provided materials are owned by or licensed to Sercle and are protected by applicable law. Third-party components and content remain governed by their respective licenses and rights.

Except as allowed by applicable law or an applicable license, these Terms grant only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to access and use Aeon in accordance with these Terms.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Sercle disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted operation that are not expressly stated in these Terms. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Responsibility and limitation

You are responsible for your use of Aeon and for maintaining copies of information or local state that you need.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sercle is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss arising from use of or inability to use Aeon, loss of browser-local state, or interruption or change of third-party imagery, data, or services. This limitation does not apply where applicable law does not permit it.

Termination

You may stop using Aeon at any time. Sercle may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, third parties, legal compliance, or security, or when these Terms are materially violated.

Changes to these Terms

Sercle may update these Terms to reflect product, provider, legal, or operational changes. Updated Terms apply prospectively from their stated effective date.

A material expansion such as accounts, paid services, or production cloud synchronization must not be represented as governed by this version without an appropriate updated legal review.
